elderly dogThe improvement in the conditions of care and feeding of pets as in humans, have clearly increased the life expectancy of them. Vaccines, improved medical care and food, have made each day more common for dogs to live many years.

Clear that the care they require are special. Food is a key issue.

By decreasing the normal dog’s physical activity, energy requirement is lower. Therefore, if we are to avoid obesity, we must reduce caloric intake of the dog.

As for fats, they should have a good supply of fatty acids, but always taking care to levels of fats in general.

Supplementing with vitamins is a good idea. Protein should be of high biological value.

As we always say here, is the veterinarian who must guide us in this regard.
